PapaJ’s was founded on a simple belief: people want great food, genuine hospitality and somewhere they can feel at home.
From the streets of North West London to the heart of Luton, that belief became the foundation of everything we built.
What began as a vision grew into something far greater than a restaurant. PapaJ’s became a place where families gathered, friendships were formed, celebrations were shared and familiar faces returned time and time again.
For 22 years, every plate served and every guest welcomed helped shape our story. And through it all, one thing remained constant: people came first.

Restaurants are built with bricks, kitchens and menus. But legacies are built through people.
Over more than two decades, PapaJ’s became part of countless moments — birthdays, anniversaries, family dinners, spontaneous evenings out and celebrations that became lifelong memories.
Guests became regulars. Regulars became friends. And, in many ways, friends became part of the PapaJ’s family. The loyalty and support shown to us over the years allowed a small idea to grow into a name remembered far beyond our four walls. That history is something we carry with enormous pride.
Because although our location has changed and our name has evolved, the legacy of PapaJ’s remains at the heart of everything we do.

After 22 incredible years, the time came to begin a new chapter. Not to leave the past behind — but to take everything it taught us forward.
Today, our journey continues in Harpenden as Grand Trunk Road by PapaJ’s. A new name. A new home. A new experience. But the same passion for bringing people together through authentic Indian flavors, generous hospitality and food made to be shared.
Grand Trunk Road represents where we are going, while “by PapaJ’s” proudly reminds us where we came from. It is an evolution of our story rather than a reinvention of it.
The spirit, experience and values built over the past 22 years remain exactly where they have always been — at the heart of the restaurant.
